Terms of Service
Effective 19 August 2026
SkillRecall is operated by The Observable, based in Sydney, Australia. By using skillrecall.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.
What SkillRecall is
SkillRecall is a knowledge reinforcement service for technical professionals. It provides a library of lessons — flashcards, quizzes, code challenges, visual explanations, and narrated audio — plus tools to organise and plan your learning.
It is an educational aid. It is not a certification, a qualification, or a substitute for professional judgement.
Your account
- Accounts are personal. Do not share your account, and do not let anyone else use it.
- Sign-in is passwordless. Anyone with access to your email inbox — or to a Google account you use to sign in — can access your SkillRecall account, so keep both secure.
- Only one device can be signed in to an account at a time. Signing in somewhere new signs the previous device out.
- You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
Free access and future pricing
Browsing the library is free and requires no account. Creating an account is currently free as well.
SkillRecall is still developing, and we may introduce paid plans in future. If we do:
- Accounts created before paid plans are introduced keep free access to the member features available to them at that time. We will not start charging you for something you already had.
- Features we build and release as part of a paid plan after that point may require a subscription, including for existing accounts.
- We will give existing members reasonable notice before any pricing change takes effect, and we will never charge an account without telling you first and obtaining payment details from you.
We may also change or withdraw a feature where it is no longer viable to run, in which case the commitment above applies to what remains rather than obliging us to keep running something indefinitely.
Accuracy and AI-assisted content
Lessons on SkillRecall are produced with AI assistance and reviewed by us. Despite that review, content may contain errors, become out of date, or oversimplify. Technology moves quickly and no learning material stays perfectly current.
Treat everything here as study material, not as authoritative guidance. Do not rely on it as professional, legal, financial, medical, or security advice, and verify anything important against primary documentation before you act on it — especially in production systems.
Acceptable use
When using SkillRecall, you must not:
- Scrape, bulk-download, or systematically copy the library, by any automated means.
- Republish, resell, or redistribute our content, or present it as your own.
- Use the service to train a machine-learning model without our written permission.
- Attempt to bypass rate limits, access controls, or any other technical restriction.
- Probe, attack, or disrupt the service or the infrastructure it runs on.
- Submit content that is unlawful, abusive, or infringes anyone else’s rights.
Our content
The lessons, text, visuals, audio, and design on SkillRecall are owned by us or used under licence, and are protected by copyright. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial learning. All other rights are reserved.
Content you submit
You keep ownership of anything you submit — feedback, learning goals, and text such as job descriptions you paste into the Planner. You grant us the permission we need to operate the service for you, including sending Planner text to our AI provider so a plan can be built.
Do not submit confidential information, or information about other people, that you are not free to share.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may act on them freely and without obligation to you.
Availability and changes
SkillRecall is under active development. Features may be added, changed, or removed, and the service may be unavailable at times for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
Ending your access
You can stop using SkillRecall at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to by law. If we do so without cause, you will not lose access to anything you have paid for.
Disclaimers and liability
Except as set out below, SkillRecall is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, data, or opportunity, arising from your use of the service.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where we are permitted to limit our liability, it is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service develops. The effective date at the top of this page shows the current version, and continuing to use SkillRecall after a change means you accept the updated terms.
